Taking care of the youth team is a top priority for the club, leading to an initiative to enhance their current facilities with an on-site gym, changing room, and office at theit training ground. Overcoming space limitations, Capital UK designed and built solutions using shipping containers.
The project began with a site visit to determine optimal container placement and sizing. The design included a 40-foot gym, a 10-foot office space, and a 40-foot changing room complete with toilets and showers. A high cube design provided a nine-foot-six high ceiling, ideal for the gym, which was insulated and lined with washable white melamine. Vandal-proof windows and a personnel door were installed, followed by air conditioning for year-round comfort, complemented by vinyl flooring.
The office, strategically positioned to overlook the football pitches, was crafted from a converted 10-foot container.
The shower and changing room were created from a converted 40-foot container, also lined and insulated with washable white melamine. High-level frosted windows were installed for privacy, along with automatic lighting sensors. Sixty feet of benching was installed to accommodate seating for both teams. Part of the container’s end section was converted into shower and toilet facilities.
Positioned behind the main building, the container was spray-painted to match the existing workshop, ensuring a cohesive appearance. This container conversion not only provided a self-sustaining solution for the youth team but also offers flexibility, as it can be relocated to a different site if the club needs to move from the current training ground in the future.
