Retail Unit on Salisbury Plain
Our client, a supplier of tactical equipment, clothing, armour systems and mission‑specific gear
to military personnel, required a new retail outlet at a military training facility on Salisbury Plain.
Capital Containers were commissioned to design and deliver a bespoke container
retail unit engineered for durability, practicality and rapid deployment.
Two 40ft containers in anthracite grey (RAL 7016) were delivered to site and set out in their position ready for the final fit out.
The middle section of each container was cut away to create a single open internal space. This formed the open plan layout of the retail unit. Steel support pillars were installed to reinforce the new opening, ensuring the structure maintained its full strength.
A box‑section frame was fitted to provide a rigid, accurate structure for the main doors
and large display windows which created a bright, accessible frontage suitable for retail use.
The entrance door 1000mm × 2100mm was complimented by the two 2000mm × 2100mm positioned on either side.
The interior was fully insulated and lined with 12mm OSB board, providing a durable, easy‑to‑fix surface for future shelving and displays.
Hard wearing vinyl flooring was installed throughout to provide a practical, easy to maintain surface suitable for high footfall and daily operational use.
A full electrical system was installed, including an RCD distribution board, external 63‑amp inlet, emergency
fittings, LED vapour‑proof lighting, switches and sockets all delivered with full testing and certification.
For year‑round comfort, two 5kW Fujitsu wall‑mounted split air‑conditioning systems were fitted with external condensers mounted on heavy‑duty brackets.
Capital Containers delivered a cost‑effective, durable, highly functional retail outlet tailored to the needs of our client.
This container conversion approach ensured rapid deployment without compromising on performance.
