Our client needed a library installed in their school playground to provide children with a space to use during break times, especially in bad weather.
We began construction in our Essex workshop by modifying two 40ft containers, cutting out their long sides with the plan to join them on site. Apertures were also cut out for patio doors and glass panels. Due to the densely populated area, access was restricted, so the final assembly took place during the children’s summer holidays.
The containers were craned onto the site, where our team of skilled craftsmen with over 30 years of experience began their work. They welded the two 40ft containers together to create a 40ft x 16ft space. After insulating and lining the unit with washable white melamine, we arranged for an external supplier to install the patio doors and glass panels.
Our firm of accredited electricians, qualified to install electrics in schools, handled the electrical installations, while our refrigeration engineers installed the air conditioning. Vinyl flooring was laid down, and our carpenters completed the project by installing the bookcases. All of this was accomplished within the six-week summer holiday period.
After completion, the school decided to embrace creativity and sprayed graffiti on the exterior. Despite this unconventional touch, the children absolutely love it.
